Exporting and printing your analytics
By Clint ParsleyLast updated
In short. On the Analytics page, Export CSV downloads the totals, rates and daily numbers for the date range and scope you are viewing. Print report prints the page without the menus, and your browser's print dialog can save it as a PDF.
The Analytics page has two buttons beside the date range: Export CSV and Print report. Both cover exactly what you are looking at, so pick the date range, and Mine or All if your team shares the account, before you use them. They appear once something was sent in the range.
What is in the CSV?
One file with three parts, which any spreadsheet opens as is:
- What it covers: the start and end dates (in UTC), whether it is all sends or only yours, and when it was made.
- Totals and rates: sent, delivered, opens and unique opens, clicks and unique clicks, bounces (hard and soft), complaints and unsubscribes; then sent and unique opens and clicks split between platform sends and mailbox sends; then the open, click, bounce and unsubscribe rates as percentages; then the mailbox open and click rates, each beside the mailbox sends it divides by.
- One row per day: the date (a UTC day), sent, opened, clicked and bounced.
A note at the top explains how to read the numbers. Usually it says that some mail apps, such as Apple Mail with its privacy protection, open email automatically, so the open rate reads high; why open rates are approximate explains it. A rate with nothing to measure against, such as an open rate when no email was delivered, is left blank rather than shown as 0.
What is each rate measured against?
Each rate is labelled with what it divides by, and both halves of a rate always come from the same kind of send:
- The open rate counts the people who opened a platform send, out of delivered platform sends. A platform send is email SEMAOS sent for you, from the shared domain or your own.
- The click rate counts the people who clicked a link in a platform send, out of delivered platform sends that had a tracked link in them. The unsubscribe link isn't tracked, so an email whose only link is the unsubscribe link isn't counted. Emails from before SEMAOS recorded this (May 2026) are all counted.
- The bounce rate is bounces out of platform sends.
- The unsubscribe rate is unsubscribes from any email, out of delivered platform sends plus mailbox sends.
Sends from your connected Gmail or Outlook mailbox are left out of the open, click and bounce rates. Your mailbox doesn't tell SEMAOS when an email was delivered or bounced. Open and click tracking there is a setting you can turn on, and SEMAOS only started recording whether it was on for each email in October 2026, so for older email it can't tell an unopened email from one it couldn't track. Their opens and clicks still show up in the file, on their own rows. Mailbox email sent with tracking on also gets rates of its own, worked out over the mailbox emails sent in this range: the people who opened, out of those that had open tracking on, and the people who clicked, out of those that had click tracking on and a tracked link (the unsubscribe link doesn't count). An open or click counts whenever it happened, even after the range ends. On the Analytics page these show under the open and click rates as a line such as "Mailbox: 30.8% of 120 tracked sends", and only when some mailbox email sent in the range was tracked. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, so the unsubscribe rate counts mailbox sends too, taking "sent" as the nearest thing a mailbox has to "delivered". When the range includes mailbox sends, the note says all this.
For example, say that in one week SEMAOS sends 1,000 platform emails for you, 960 are delivered and 40 bounce, and 800 of the delivered ones have a tracked link in them; 288 people open one and 48 click. You also send 60 emails from your connected Gmail, and 30 people unsubscribe across both channels:
| Rate | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Open rate | 288 openers out of 960 delivered platform sends | 30.0% |
| Click rate | 48 clickers out of 800 delivered platform sends with a tracked link | 6.0% |
| Bounce rate | 40 bounces out of 1,000 platform sends | 4.0% |
| Unsubscribe rate | 30 unsubscribes out of 960 delivered plus 60 mailbox sends | 2.9% |
The 60 Gmail emails change only the unsubscribe rate. Opens and clicks on them, if you turned mailbox tracking on, appear on their own rows in the file.
When every email in the range went out through a mailbox, as it does on the Free plan, delivery and bounces show as 0 and the open, click and bounce rates are blank. Opens count only if you turned on open tracking for your mailbox, and if you did, the mailbox open and click rates described above are filled in. The unsubscribe rate is still there. If your account moved to Free after a trial, emails SEMAOS sent during the trial still count, so a range that includes them shows their delivery and rates.
The tiles on the Analytics page and the dashboard use the same measures. A rate with nothing to measure against shows a dash.
How do I get a PDF?
Click Print report. The printout leaves out the app's menus, banners and buttons, fits the chart and its legend to the page width, prints in light colors even if you use the dark theme, and adds a line saying which sends and dates the metrics cover. In the print dialog, choose Save as PDF as the destination to keep a copy instead of printing one.
Who can export?
Anyone on the account who can open the Analytics page. Mine exports only the sends you made; All exports the whole account's, the same numbers the page shows.
