Guides for setting up and using SEMAOS. Every article states the real limits and thresholds the product enforces. In a hurry? Try the FAQ.
Getting started
From a fresh account to your first send.
Connecting your Gmail or Outlook mailbox
Connect in Settings → Mailbox. Your 1:1 and sequence emails send through your own account, capped at 400 per day, and replies land in your normal inbox.
Getting started: from signup to your first send
Sign up (free needs no card), finish the two onboarding fields, connect Gmail or Outlook, import a CSV, and send. Most teams are done in about 15 minutes.
Sending & deliverability
Sending channels, custom domains, warmup, bounces, and why open rates are approximate.
Custom sending domains: setup, warmup, and multiple domains
Add your domain under Settings → Sending, publish the DNS records, and verify. New domains warm up over 21 days (100, then 500, then 2,000 sends per day). Business verifies up to five domains, each with its own From name, and every campaign picks which one to send from.
Deliverability: bounces, complaints, and the guardrails
SEMAOS watches your rolling 24-hour hard-bounce rate on platform sends: 5% throttles sending until the rate recovers, 10% suspends it. Hard bounces and complaints suppress the contact automatically.
Sending channels: your mailbox vs. the platform
One-off and sequence emails send through your connected Gmail or Outlook mailbox by default. Pick a verified custom domain in the Send from picker to send that email through SEMAOS from the domain instead. Enrolling a list bigger than your mailbox can send today moves that whole enrollment to your sending domain. Broadcasts always send through the SEMAOS platform.
Why open rates are approximate
Open tracking overcounts and undercounts at the same time: Apple's privacy proxy fires opens nobody made, and image-blocking clients hide real reads. Treat opens as directional; trust clicks and replies.
Contacts & sequences
Importing contacts, building sequences, and how enrollment works.
Building and running sequences
A sequence is a chain of email, wait, and condition steps. It always opens with an email, conditions branch on engagement, and a detected reply stops the sequence for that contact.
Engagement scores and tiers
Every contact gets a 0-100 score recalculated nightly from opens, clicks, and sequence completions, with recent activity weighted heaviest. Tiers run Hot (80+) down to Inactive (under 20).
Importing contacts from CSV
Open Contacts and click Import from CSV. The wizard auto-maps common columns, you pick how duplicates are handled, confirm the contacts consented to hear from you, and rows that fail validation come back as a downloadable error CSV.
Broadcasts & A/B testing
One-to-many sends, subject and content tests, and reading results.
A/B testing broadcasts
Test two subjects or two templates on part of the list, measure for a window, and the winner goes to the rest automatically. No clear winner means variant A ships, never a coin flip.
Sending broadcasts
A broadcast sends one email to a whole list through the platform channel. Suppressed and opted-out contacts are skipped and counted, results finalize from queued to sent, and opens and clicks always track.
Account & billing
Plans, seats, the overage bank, trials, and account statuses.
Control who on your team can send
On Team and Business, an admin can mark any member draft-only. They still build everything, but broadcasts and turning a sequence live wait for an admin. Sending from their own connected mailbox is never affected.
Plans, seats, and sending limits
Five tiers from Free to Business ($399/mo). Paid tiers meter platform sends per month; mailbox sending is never metered. Seats bill as you invite people. The 30-day trial unlocks every feature with a flat 1,000-send cap, and you pick a plan at the end.
Unsubscribes, suppression, and CAN-SPAM
You may only email recipients who consented or have a business relationship with you. Every send includes an unsubscribe link and your mailing address, both required by CAN-SPAM. Opt-outs join the suppression list and are never emailed again on any channel.
